Catalog Description:

C.1860, Wm. L. Gilbert, Small cottage clock with alarm movement by S. B. Terry. This clock would have been made after Terry went bankrupt in 1859, and in 1860 Gilbert persuaded him to come to Winsted and be in charge of movements. You may see this same movement pictured in Palmer's Treasury of American Clocks, page 130, also in a Gilbert clock. The original wooden dial is intact, with some careful and tasteful strengthening of the numerals. Retains fabulous stenciled patriotic tablet with Union shield, Spread wing eagle and the motto E. Pluribus Unum. Height 11.25 inches
