Extremely large French, (Black Forest influenced) Cartel clock, 46 inches high, ca 1880's. Large carved decorations all over the Hunting style case. Large bird on the bottom is made of carved wood. The Dog, Fox, and Deer, are large cast iron figures, everything else is wood. French 8 day movement signed by Japy Freres, strikes half hours on a wire gong, and it is running. Very large 12 inch wood dial, with oversized cartouche numerals, brass hands. Barometer in the bottom is signed "Gishard". Perfect bronze dial, with convex glass over. Correct old French pendulum. This massive clock needs to be displayed in a prominent place, over the fireplace at the lodge or cabin, in a game room or anyplace needing a large clock.
