French Country Tallcase clock with Morbier Works, circa 1810 Case: Hand carved solid mahogany with a tapered trunk (18" -14.5"); in three sections, height 93" x width 20 inches; White enamel dial marked CHAVIN Grenoble., Works: Morbier heavy machined brass, Weight Driven, Clock strikes once at the half hour, as was normal French practice, and also double at each hour, i.e. the clock strikes the hour and about two minutes later, strikes the hour again. 6" bell Reference: Clocks and Watches by Alan Smith; Condition: Case - excellent; Works - Immaculate.
