Catalog Description:

C.1875, T. Mayhew and Co., NY "Pneumatic Timer" A well made 8-hour balance/lever movement, designed to measure the total time of non-vacuum condition, by virtue of a leather bellows that pulls a piece of spring steel into the balance whenever it receives vacuum. The strongly powered movement will resume running when the vacuum is released. The dial is clearly inscribed pneumatic time, patented June 15, 1875, and with a nickel plated movement of the same era. The basic unit measures 3 x 4' , with a dial of 2' diameter. Runs, but needs adjustment. A curiosity.
