George Dorne, New York, No. 2, Circa 1973, Noon cannon. This is a copy based on a French style that was popular in the 18th century. The magnifying glass if set properly would concentrate the light to fire the loaded cannon at 12 o'clock. The setting angle of the magnifying glass can be set depending on the season to make it operate. The longitude and latitude are indicated on the marble base plate. French for Maple and Co., London [on dial], miniature bell timepiece, cast of heavy brass, showing in relief several Christian tenants, and with cast angels all around, each playing a different musical instrument. This is the smallest version of the New Haven Clock Co., LIGHTHOUSE novelty, the movement in the base, and the detached balance in place of the beacon, and with glass rods to simulate the lantern, c.1889 French, Clock / Automaton with Barometer and Thermometer, C.1880. This is a well made and interesting piece, wound through the bottom, and actuated with a pull to the left side which allows the French, attributed to Guilmet retailed by Alibert, 222 Rue Rivoli, Paris, French, OARSMAN automaton timepiece, C.1885, a bronze sailboat setting on a nest of waves [also bronze], with the lone boatman rowing the boat due to lack of wind. The oarsman is suspended on a tri-leaf German, Meyer, 'THREE DOGS IN BASKET', all panting with tongues moving in and out with each tick, a small one day pendulum clock on the right side and a thermometer to the left. C.1890, French, Edouard Serin, World Time Globe, striking, with phases of the moon and with the name of the retailer, Gowland, Sunderland on the porcelain dial. Uses a unique bell strike movement, with drive mechanism turning at a 90 degree angle from the rear plate and extending up to drive the globe at top. The globe is signed Edouard Serin. There are 24 small porcelain cartouche around the brass ring at the equator. Note the dog in center of log cabin has a panting tongue, and the man at the left has his head bobbing back and forth as he tries to see what is going on. Two lovers at right in romantic embrace. Like other clock in this series, this one utilizes a small, pendulette movement, with the dog's tongue and gents head attached by a wire to the verge. New York, C.1906, Ansonia Clock Co., cast pot metal BANK novelty, the case depicting dogs and horseback hunters capturing a wild boar, and the back with slots for coins and a key lock door to remove the money [no key], c.1910 Swiss, Le Coultre, George Dorne, c.1974, TURTLE CLOCK, reproduction of well figured marble, and with a battery movement. Ansonia Clock Co. New York, C.1900, Chinese, Reproduction INCLINED PLANE TIMEPIECE, the circular canister rotates as it goes down the plane, however the movement is counterweighted so it maintains a fixed position. The downward motion provides a constant force to the time train. When the clock/canister reaches the bottom, the movement will stop and the unit must be moved again to the top of the plane. This is a one day time and alarm, also with seconds hand. Mouse falls suddenly at 1 o'clock and rings a bell. C.1975. Case only, Iron Blinker, F. P. Dressler, NY (Novelty Co) , cast metal case of the Empire state building with a 30-hour lever movement timepiece. Bottom of the case is marked Dressler.
