What does eCollectica Publishing do?
eCollectica Publishing develops and distributes online reference works in the field of antiques and collectibles. Savage and Polite's Antique Clocks Identification and Price Guide Online is eCollectica's first publication hosted at the AntiqueClocksPriceGuide.com domain.
Also available is Savage and Polite's Civil War Collector's Price Guide, at CivilWarPriceGuide.com, with descriptions and prices of more than 7,800 Civil War artifacts, with 2,000+ illustrations. Guides to other areas of collecting are in development as well, including guides to vintage wristwatches, antique silver, dolls, pottery and porcelain, costume jewelry and furniture.
eCollectica Publishing fundamentally changes the nature of reference book creation and distribution. Instead of having to wait months or years to update and revise a book, changes can be made in a matter of days or weeks. New material can be added to each eGuide as it becomes available, with none of the printing costs or physical space limitations imposed by traditional publishing methods. Thousands of high quality color photographs can be shown without regard to the high cost of printed reproduction. Keyword searching allows users to find relevant information quickly, and choices of display options offer flexibility that is unavailable with print.
Besides having a number of in house projects currently under development, eCollectica Publishing is seeking inquiries from authors and publishers wanting to profit from the burgeoning eBook publishing industry. If you are an author or publisher with electronic reproduction rights to a resource in the field of antiques and collectibles, or have a manuscript in development, please contact acquisitions@ecollectica.com. |
Who is Savage and Who is Polite?
Jeff Savage expresses his two passions as co-founder of eCollectica Publishing: his veneration of the arts and antiques of eras past, and his enthusiasm for the cutting edge computer technologies that are shaping our future.
Formally trained in appraisal theory and practice, Jeff is a veteran antiques appraiser who has evaluated more than $500 million in art, antiques and collectibles during his thirty-year career as an appraiser. He was selected as the 1999 Outstanding Member of the Year the by the largest personal property appraiser's association in the USA, the International Society of Appraisers. After being elected and serving for three years on the national ISA Board of Directors, Jeff turned his attention to producing online resources like this one to help fellow appraisers and the general public more easily research the identity and value of antiques and collectibles.
In 1994 he acquired additional training as a professional researcher specializing in mining the quickly growing database resources of the then-nascent Internet. His participation as a member of the Association of Independent Information Professionals (AIIP) nurtured his interest in cutting edge Internet search technologies and techniques, eventually leading to his full time involvement in the field of electronic publishing and the day to day operations of eCollectica Publishing.
Jeff resides with his wife, Maxine, in a rural area of Sonoma County, California, along with their three Chihuahua’s (Henry, Chiquita and Duke), two cats (Miso and Slinky), two geese (Peepers and Poopers.)
eCollectica co-founder Ryan Polite is a highly skilled IT professional whose specialty is designing dynamic, database-driven websites. In 1999 he sold his partnership in Rhythm Net Design Group, a Los Angeles multimedia design firm, and relocated to northern California to join Jeff in the founding of eCollectica Publishing. Educated at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, he combines more than 20 years of computer knowledge with a passion for the field of interactive electronic entertainment and emerging technologies.
Ryan also resides in rural Sonoma County, California. A former long distance running star in cross-country and track and field, as well as a practitioner of martial arts, he now enjoys the demanding sport of fencing as a welcome counterbalance to the intense demands of being eCollectica's Chief Technology Officer.
